FounderWhy do you do this work? What drives you?
Wherever leaders are learning, building, and innovating, I want to be in the mix. Helping leaders to draw on their strengths, move through complexity and ambiguity, and find exciting paths forward to create a better world for all - that is what it’s all about for me.
What keeps you inspired?
Leaders who bring everything they’ve got to make good things happen in their organizations and communities are my inspiration. Whether they are leading multigenerational philanthropic organizations or community-based nonprofits, they show every day that leadership matters. I love helping them strategize to tackle complex challenges.
What changes have you seen in leaders you have worked with?
Working with leaders across public and private sectors—and on issues including poverty and homelessness to climate change and K-12 public education, I have seen their amazing breakthroughs as they adapt, develop new skills and approaches, and reach new levels of impact. Wow. Strong, agile leaders with a collaborative mindset can have a profound effect in their organizations, communities and in our world.

FounderHow did you get started?
My move into coaching came 15+ years ago after a career that included executive roles at an operating foundation, higher education institution, and strategy consulting firm. I learned along the way that, no matter how good the strategic plan, the quality of an organization’s leadership is a fundamental factor for success. At the consulting firm, we were frequently brought in to facilitate a plan, when directly addressing the interpersonal challenges with coaching would have been a more effective route.
What excites you about your work now?
Now, whether working with the CFO at a tech company, president of a foundation, COO in a multi-hospital system, or admiral heading a government agency, my favorite part of any engagement is when clients connect with the heart of who they are as a leader. Coming from that orientation, their paths become clearer and so much more interesting.
What can people expect when they work with you?
There are so many different approaches in the field of coaching – from Three Principles, to Emotional Intelligence, to somatics, to Presence-Based, and on and on. I’ve loved exploring the various silos and pulling pieces from each into my practice. Coaching executives for me is like working with athletes – figuring out what each individual needs to be at their best when the stakes are high.
